Greyslyn the gray egg layer has passed.

She was almost 9. We have been having cold weather here but the coop was heated, and she had her own nest box to sleep in. It was her time.

Her mother I got from a lady who was giving away her flock. I asked if she had any blue chickens. Greyslyn's mother was a blue splash...
"Sally"

Her father "Silverman" I got from a lady who had too many roosters. He was not pretty but he served his purpose.

I put her egg in an incubator...(The egg she came from was the pink) But the dad had the green egg gene...

So Greyslyn's eggs looked like the gray egg below.

Over the years she did have chicks, I had kept a couple of look alike daughters, and I currently have 2 daughter's that are mixed with BCM, so they lay an even darker gray egg.

This fall I took a cute pic of Greyslyn...

What do her daughter's eggs look like?
Sorry for your loss. I would LOVE it if someone could make a gray-laying breed.

So sorry for you and you're hen. At least you got to enjoy her for a long time. She sure was a beauty! :hugs
