My Guinea had keets in the woods

My Guinea after dissapearing for about a month


had 6 keets at this empty property across the street from my house even though I have fence all around my property and came back home 3 days ago with her babies so we had to catch them all including the momma and put them in a coop ,but the momma is not happy in the cage , should I let her out and just keep the keets caged ?or is it better if I rehome the momma and keep the keets ? because what if the momma goes back to the property .the babies are eating already and are very alert and healthy .please I need some advise from you all ( we have to put them in this blue plastic tote while my husband was building the cage

Guinea hens are not good mothers. You are it now!!!

No need to rehome her. Do you have any other Guineas? If so, she should stay with them. No guarantee she won't go back across the road....she probably did that, just to nest. You are very fortunate a predator did not get her while she was sitting. Consider the keets a miracle too! Most of the time.... they don't survive long enough to reach adulthood in the wide open.

Thanks Naunnie ,we have all the keets and the momma in a small coop my husband made for them ,we had them in the plastic blue tote while he was working in the coop , and I 'm blessed because she's a very good momma

Yes! I agree guineas will not raise their own successfully,let mom go n raise the babies caged till atleast 6 mths.old so they have better survival rate,i have a total of 10 guineas now n have had only 2 babies survive in the last 5 years.lucky u even found n caught the babies,their swift n mommas get protective n aggressive

@ AngelaK : thanks and no doubt about it , God had a lot to do in this situation cause now the momma is at peace and taking good care of her keets , Praise God
