When I let my guineas out this morning, I did my typical "once-over" in their room (aka stalk every square inch hoping to find the first egg) and I found the first egg!!! So cool - my babies that I hatched last year are now laying!! HOORAY!!!

Congrats Tar! I've started getting 1-2 eggs a day from my main flock of Pieds this week, and I've noticed my flock of Browns and Chocolates trying to breed the past week and a half or so (the young males are not too bright yet and will rush at the Hens while they are on a hillside and slide off before completing the task, lol). So I may be seeing eggs from that flock soon too... I figured I would have by now, but nope.

I forget if I asked you already, how many Hens do you have this year?

How bout you Ashley, how many Hens will you be collecting eggs from?

I spoke too soon, and my Guineas made a liar out of me yet again

... I let the[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] flock of Browns and Chocolates out to free range a little while ago and found the first egg from them. but rather than crack it open and check for the bullseye, I'm just gonna put it in one of the incubators when I set egg batch #10 later this evening... Those 7 Hens will probably lay at least 100 eggs each this season unless they go broody on a nest, so yah, you'll have plenty of eggs, lol.

Oh yeah! and I can't wait for it all to start! I really try to make sure none of them go broody, cause as soon as they do something is sure to get them.
