My healthy chickens are dieing! What could this be?

I have had 1 rooster pass away two days ago, and today another roo, and my favorite showgirl hen passed away.

Everyone is healthy, energetic, getting lots of food and water, and they are just dieing. I am completely baffled.

What can I do? Is there something I can give them to help the ones that are still alive?

Please help.....

Have you brought in any new chickens?

Are you getting a lot of rain?

Have you changed anything?

The questions at the first post might also help others answer this puzzle....
1) What type of bird , age and weight.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
10) Describe the housing/bedding in use



Is there a new chick or rooster you brought in without quarantine.


I suggest you take a deceased bird a State Poultry Lab and see the fet for the reasons for the death and then act accordingly.

how do they 'sound'? are their respiratory passages clear?

If you have brought in new bird w.o. 30 day minimum quarentine period, remove those birds immediately into quarentine.

I would def. disinfect the coop , run, and even yard -passage ways that you have traveled ASAP.

Sorry they're dying. Sounds like M to the Maxx's issue, just dropping dead with no real symptoms. When that starts happening, I first think of mold building up somewhere, around the waterer or in feed under and around the feeders, etc. Then, I think maybe the feed is bad or moldy. Hope you can give us more to go on.

I haven't seen any changes with them. All eating and drinking, their feces look normal, the birds that died just look like they just plopped over dead. No pecking or anything. I'm going to just clean everything really really well with some disinfectant. Hopefully that will kill whatever is going on...

I'd rethink the feed...could be a bad batch..
check area for any possible toxins including standing water

I wish I knew. I had one of my girls die yesterday with no warning. She was laying around all day then died. I check her and everything around and found no apparent reason. I posted an emergency thread but no one here really knew what happened. I will keep my eye out for some sort of answer for you and for me.
