My hen burnt her feathers off

The heat lamp in the chicken coup fell and one of my beautiful Cochin hens decided to cuddle up to it. She burnt off most of her wings and chest. I have fixed the lamp to where it won't fall. My Question: Is there anything I need to do as far as my hen is concerned, I'm really worried about her. (no skin was burnt, she wasn't injured).

Nothing really to do since the skin wasn't burnt. Just expect her to stay naked till she molts in the summer or fall.

Please double hang (don't use the clamp) your heat lamp for safety... Some folks here on BYC have lost their beloved chickens and their entire coop due to heat lamp related fires. You also might want to wrap chicken wire or hardware cloth around the open face of the lamp for extra protection. Wow...you and your little chicken were really lucky! I'm glad she's okay!

Wow your lucky you didn't burn your coop, etc. down. Are you sure you want a heat lamp in the coop? Its 4 degrees here and mine are fine.

Your hen will be all right. You are sooooo lucky that you did not burn your coop down. A lady member of this forum did just that and it nearly got her house too on Christmas eve.

If her skin isnt badly burnt, she should be fine.
