Last week Wednesday it was terribly cold here in Texas, it got down to 4 degrees with a -11 wind chill. I went out to get my hens off the roosting bar and lock them inside their coop. When I got home that evening my 1 year old black cochin hen was in the same spot and had not moved. I went to pick her up and noticed very quickly something was wrong. She just plopped back over. After further examination I noticed it was more of an issue with just her left leg/foot. She seems to have no movement of that leg. I got a crate and put her in it and brought her in the house and set her by the heater for the next couple of days and put vitamins and electrolytes in her water. She otherwise seems totally normal, she has been eating and drinking and even laid an egg over the weekend. She started trying to stand but can't seem to get her leg down and her toes curled out. I am not sure if something specifically happened to cause an injury or if this is just from the extreme cold, but she is the only hen in the coop with this. Is there anything else I can do for her? Anything I can put on her leg to help with nerve or circulation issues?

No, the coloring on both her feet looks normal from what I could tell. Is there something I can rub on her feet anyways to help with frostbite if thats what it could be?

She is a year old, she is a Cochin so her feet and legs are feathered but they are grey colored so I didn’t think it looked like frostbite but it could be, I’m just not sure what else could of happened for her not to be able to walk. But she is trying to stand a lot this week so I’m hoping she will improve and get back to normal. What can I do for frostbite?
