I've had a hen who has been broody for a couple of months. I have tried to break her of it several ways including putting some fertilized eggs in with her. (She would still move from box to box so she couldn't hatch anything.) I have finally just put her into a box with an open bottom to try to cool her down. That little experiment is in it's fourth day. Any helpful hints?

the way i broke my broody is i put her in just a wire cage with food and water and put her out in the run day and night and let the other girls walk on top of the cage and it made her even more nervous. the night before a rainstorm hit she snapped out of it and good thing too because she may of got a little wet. but yeah what i learned is that to break them you need to put them where its bright out and where they can get lots of air under them and it helps if they can be a little uncomfortable. good luck with her. my broody hen was in bad shape weight wise but has gotten a lot better now
