Pearl, one of my favorite BR girls, was attacked by the neighbor's stray dog almost 3 weeks ago. I've kept her in a cage in the house all this time, and she's content and recovering from her wounds nicely. I do let her out for a while every day, to play in the yard, but have to keep a watchful eye on her, because the rest of the flock no longer accepts her. Both of our roo's have tried to reestablish their "relationship" with her, the result of which was that her scabs came off and she was completely traumatized, all over again. I now keep her out there by herself, when I let her free-range.
She has no desire to be with her flock, and follows me around like a puppy. After 5 or 10 minutes outside, she walks back to the front porch, and demands loudly to be let back into the house. I love her to death, but do not want a house chicken, and really want to reintegrate her with the flock. I had her in a separate run yesterday, in view of all the other chickens, but she picked a fight with them through the wire, and ended up bleeding.

what to do?

At least she "loudly demands" to be let in. My bantam roo, who has been living outside in the coop for over a month, comes to the back door and tries to fly through the glass every time he free-ranges!

Cute chicken diapers on the Net..... I read the only difference between a large parrot and a chicken is $3,000.

that is NOT what I want to hear! She must go back outside (even though she does look kinda cute, sitting there right next to me in her cage, watching what I'm typing....
I'm looking for 3 BO pullets for my "spare" rooster, and am wondering if I'll just stick her in with the newbies, while they adjust to the new place. Perhaps she'll bond with them, if not with her former sisters.
