My little flock is now down to 3 hens, what with predators and deaths....the girls are 3 yrs old now. Lenore, my black hen has been rather bossy for awhile but recently she has started crowing like a rooster and mounting one of the girls as if she was the male? She literally flattens her victim right into the ground. I can't imagine what to make of it. Lenore is definitely a girl...she lays the most perfect snowy white eggs. Anyone else experienced this odd behavior? LOL

I have heard of hens crowing, but not trying to mount the other hens.

Strange indeed!

She's obviously the most dominant hen in her "flock", my big JG hen does that to the weakest hen in my flock. Don't be surprised if she starts growing spurs.

LOL!! My other half swears her comb is getting larger...he says she's a hermaphrodite chicken. ha ha ha

I've got one. She mounts a couple of the other girls and the funniest part is... when she lets go of them, they fluff and shake, as if it had been the rooster!

When the rooster catches her at it, he does the same thing to her... only she has a reason to shake afterwards!
