Lavender is a wyandotte bantam, about 9 months old. She is bottom of the pecking order. Lately she has been refusing to come into the coop at night. Early in the morning she crows to get us up so that we let the others out and feed them all. Is this normal? What should we do? Or have I gone completely mad and is she in fact a he all along?

I'll post a pic in a few minutes whenI have worked out how!

sometimes hens take on the role of a roo.an they start crowing.but i dont know what causes them todo that.

She is a she, if you ask me. She doesn't have the neck feathers or the tail of a roo.

I think there are crowing hens. I have a silver-laced wyandotte named Roberta who is LOUD. She can be heard as well as, if not better than the roos, and we have 4 roos.

Does she lay at all?

Pretty girl, either way.

Thanks so much everyone. I will be able to tell Lav that even though she is not very bright and her sisters are mean she has been internationally admired!

I just hope the neighbours understand...
