My hen is giving up!!!

I forgot to lock the coop last night and my hen that has a week old chick slept in the tree with her sister!!!!! The chick might die,should I make sure to make my hen stay with the baby or should I take care of it?

I bet. I wish I had a hen that would take a chick. I would like to see them go through that process once.

Hello and Welcome To BYC! If she has taken it back and is mothering it today, I would keep her locked up in the coop with the chick since she will probably head back to the tree at night again... if she abandons the chick or is getting really upset about staying with it and not going where she wants, you'll probably have to brood it yourself.

Kelsie X2. I would lock her up in the coop as she is probably going to head right back to that tree tonight. If she does not prove herself as a good momma, you will need to brood this baby for yourself.
