I have a hen that I found in her house when I opend the chickens door to let them out to free range. She was getting up and like she was dizzie kept claspsing looked like she was passing out! I picked her up and looked at her and she had 2 black eyes her whole face was swallon. and 1 of her legs she can not stand on at all and the other one she can't stand on right. She keeps opening her mouth gasping for air. And when I picked her up you could feel her hart rate going super duper fast. I do not know what to do. I currently sepperated her from the others. Can I do anything eles for her do you think?

Yea, I put her in a box for the night and checked on her in the morning and she was sitting on top of the box. But I found a huge egg in the box! I am wondering if she could not walk cause her egg was to heavy. Could that be? Some of the other chickens have black eyes and are very swallon around them. Past that the others eat like pigs! They do not seam to be laying that many eggs though and I have about 30 of them and I only get about 9 eggs each day. Is it true that a chicken should lay 1 egg each day?

Yes, chickens should lay one egg a day. Your hens may be too young to lay. How old are they?

You said she has two 'black eyes' and your other birds are showing the same symtoms. Can you upload a picture? This really worries me as it could be anything from bruising caused by pecks from a bully, to an illness effecting the entire flock. Overall, we need more information, as what you've given is very vauge. If you need help on the information needed, the form below is a good place to start. Just fill it out as best you can, and we can work from there
D.gif

1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)

2) What is the behavior, exactly.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?

4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?

5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.

6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.

7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.

8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.

9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?

10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?

11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.

12) Describe the housing/bedding in use

Hi! She looks alot better this morning when I went to go check on her. Out of all he questions the only ones she has is #8. She has runny poop. Past that she is doing fine now but I am wondering if there is a bully in the groop cause of the black eyes. She is doing well now! We feed them Organic feed and they free range on my land. They sure cleand up our tick promblem! My dog does not have ticks any more! :D

Have any of you heard of a beak the does not shut it's like the bottom half is going to left and the top half is going to the right. Is there anything I could do for her? I'll try to take a pic of her beek but I can't right now cause it is freezing cold outside! But do you no why about 2 out of 50 of my chickens have weird beaks like that? She can eat but it take like 30 min to get her crop half way fool so it just takes a long time.

Yeap~ It's called being cross beaked. It's genetic and there is really nothing you can do about it. But the good thing is, unless it's really affecting their eating or drinking, they don't need help. They'll be fine

You can google more info if you're still curious~

Thats crooked beak. I think the only thing you can do is trim the break every so often.
