Welcome!

Do you have a rooster in your flock? If yes then yes, there is a good chance that the eggs are fertile. If not then nope

Broody hens sit on a clutch of eggs for 21 days, so depending on how long she has been there, they could be soon or they could still be a couple of weeks away.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. If you do not have a rooster, then you may wish to consider discarding the eggs and breaking her broodiness. Broody hens eat and drink little when they are sitting on eggs and can lose condition which can compromise their health. If the eggs are not fertile, then its simply a waste of her time and energy. To break broodiness, take a look at this link - https://www.backyardchickens.com/newsearch?search=broody+buster

Best wishes

Broody hens do not know if their eggs are fertile. Some broodies will sit on anything like rocks, or even nothing at all.
