My hen laid eggs outside of coop and is broody- I think

I used the pictures here to check which girls were producing the best eggs.

If it tasted really good and had a mini spot after waiting 1 day after laying I would set her as the candidate for hatching eggs.
When the time came I had a few of their eggs set aside, just used the first in first out method for eating.
Set them in a line on a rack, put down on one end, eat form the other. That way I always had 4 good and recent eggs.

I have NO idea why they go crazy for blue towels.
You can let them in the house filled with dirty cloths, pillows, a couch, everything, and they will go straight for the blue towel.
Might be my birds, might be an instinct, NO idea.
They even prefer the blue towel for dog feet over a nice and fresh fluffy white hotel towel.

Chickens are really interesting and I hope you have a broody on your hands.
They make some incredible mothers.

Ours wont even get up to poo or eat except for once oever 3 days.
We thought the dogs were pooping in the house when we first saw her leavings (limited space in apartment garden so we had to put her in the spare bedroom)

Very interesting!

I am not sure what is going on with my girl- I moved her eggs into the coop but she never paid attention to them I found an eggs on the top bale of hay in the barn this afternoon- but she was out eating grass all day.

I am beginning to think she just prefers the barn.

Let me know how your hatch goes.

Finally!
Two out, 1 pipper 1 inside moving and one that hasnt changed in a week.
So looks like its 4 of 5 a very good number.

They are chirping under mama and I dont want to disturb them but I did take out the shells.
Very happy!
