My Plymouth Rock I got a few days ago refuses to sleep in the hen house with the rest of the flock. Now, I got a red production and an australorp with the plymouth rock and they have no problem sleeping in the house. My Plymouth seems very independent and she isnt even a year old. I stuck her in the house several times and watched her hop out and go back to her corner on the other side of the coop. She is also very talkative and clucks up a storm. Is this okay for my 1 hen to be independent?

She is safe where she is sleeping. Cause the whole coop is fenced in. And I have additional nesting boxes outside the house. She is protected from the weather and predators, but I would think she would be cold not cuddling up with the rest of the flock. Especially when its 20 degrees outside

I recently added a Black Astralorp hen to my small flock. Beautiful hen! Only 2 days before she gave her first egg, nice LARGE brown beauty!
