about a couple days ago my rhode island red hen got in the nest about four thirty pm. she went in the nest and rolled the eggs that we had got for the day and rolled them under her like she was trying to keep them warm. we came back the next day and she was off, and she hasn't got back on the nest since, and when we tried to get the hen off the nest she peeked are hands so we don't if she was going broody or not?

She isn't broody. She was probably laying an egg. A broody hen will get off the nest about once a day, ut then she will go right back and sit on the nest again. Broodies will often growl at you. RIR are not known to be very broody hens. That doesn't mean that that won't go broody, but that they won't go broody as often as Silkies do.
