Thank you, I have some ideas on how to work with Suki (my DS's husky) she only chases the cats if they run which triggers the prey drive. We have been working with her she is young just turned a year old and still acts like a big puppy. So been working on sit stay and come when called (the hardest one for her) but I am not giving up I will work with her and hopefully get it so she at least does not chase and hurt the chickens and we just might have to keep them separated. I used to have a mixed maine coon cat I love him he was so pretty.

One method I use, besides raising chicks in the house

is making my dog sit with me and the cat, chicken, guinea pig, etc. Right in front of their face. They are not allowed to even look at it. I want them to know that this other creature belongs where it is and is not to be disturbed. I just sit on the floor with them for as long up to 10 min. And keep repeating it until the dog seems uninterested in the other animal. Just be ready to intercept a quick snap at first, until the dog starts to understand what is going on. I graduate to letting the animal move around the dog and keep the dog in a stay command. But, you have to be able to read your dog. It only takes a split second for them to snap them up. Good luck.
