My hen stopped laying in the middle of laying an egg??

My d’uccles hen was laying an egg while sitting next to me. I was SO honored. She went about it for maybe 5 minutes. I saw half the egg come out of her cloaca! Then she just sucked it back up and stopped? I left her alone to finish and returned many times to find no eggs anywhere. I don’t think she’s egg bound, because she’s still a pooping machine. I’ve seen her poop maybe three times since that incident. Help???

That’s exactly what I thought, but I searched the whole coop and run and moved all the bedding around and nothing. I gave her a warm bath last night like people do for egg bound hens to hopefully relax her.

Definitely! I’m calling the vet today because overnight still no egg! Bizarre

I brought her to the vet because she was straining again and although I SWEAR I saw an egg come half out, they said they don’t feel an egg in her vent at all! She’s alright lol
