my hen was attacked by a dog,,,she's missing all her tail feathers,,,will she be ok?

yesterday my hens were out in my and and 2 medium dogs came running through,,,they attacked my hen Dolly...she's missing all her tail feathers..Luckily she ran and got under the shed, When she finally came out i put her in the garden, and saw that all her beautiful tail feathers are gone..She is eating a little, drinking a little,,,really likes the dried meal worms. she is alert and was walking fine and spent time today on the large tree branch she likes as a perch. I'm feeling so guilty for letting them out in my yard... Everytime i look at her i want to cry and feel like it's my fault that shes hurt and missing all those feathers. She is a barred rock and the sweetest thing. Does it sound like she will be ok? and how long till her tail feathers grow back?

If it's just feathers that are missing and her skin wasn't torn or anything that she should be fine. They'll grow back. A little extra protein can help in the meantime. Keep an eye out for those dogs and/or maybe consider putting in some kind of fencing so that your birds can free range safely!
