My hens are now free range!!!

I finally got my hens all set up to free range. I (with a little help) built a coop and a run (with wire flooring to prevent any critters from digging in) and only close them in at night. They have free run of my walnut orchard along with my nigerian dwarf goats and my livestock guardian puppy. The puppy only gets irritated when the chickens try to steal her food. It is so awesome to see them enjoying all the bugs and grass. Thanks to all that offered so much valuable info on this website!!!

dhansen, glad you were able to take the plunge. Bringing yourself to open the run gate and set them free for the day knowing that you're going to worry EVERY minute they're out is not an easy thing to do.

I LOVE watching mine free range...I do realize there is a chance something may happen but I think it's worth watching their happiness even if it's for a little while.
