Hi im new to chickens, been lurking here for a while and reading up as much as i can.. well i took the plunge last week and went to collect 2 hens.... I was told they are around 19 weeks old and are black rocks... but from looking around i think that one of my hens is something different.... maybe a magpie???... what do you guys think?

I have Black Rocks.....juveniles (6 weeks) and grown (1 year). Neither of those birds are Black Rocks....sorry. My young girls have a very little bit of white on their wing tips (maybe 1/2" of white), but my adults are totally black with that "beetle green" hackling

I can't say what they are.....but I can say what they're not. Hopefully some of the experts here can help....I'm still too new at this

Thanks for the reply.... Argh well I think the poultry farm must have known I was new to it all and told me a load of old cobblers which i took as the truth as i didn't know any better.... They both have the beetle green sheen to there feathers.... thanks again for helping me out and i look forward to someone being able to tell me what they are

Yup, they are very nice looking birds. I am still almost sure that al least one of hem is a sexlink, they may boh be.

If so, you can be very happy, you will have marvelous egg layers!

Il be happy with them if they produce me some good eggs
