My hens stopped laying eggs!

Quote:
Do you mean, are you sure she's the one laying the blue eggs, or are you sure she's the one eating them?

I'm fairly sure she's the one laying. I only have 4 other hens of laying age, and I know which eggs are theirs. And I've never seen any of them eat their eggs, or any evidence of their eggs being eaten. Also, in Feb. when the hen in question laid a few eggs, I found a blue egg half eaten. Then she stopped laying. I don't know what to think anymore.

I meant is she the one eating them. My first flock developed some bad behaviors late one winter after being housed in too confined an area. I had some problems with egg eating then and it was impossible for me to tell who was eating eggs. Free ranging helped lessen all the problems but did not solve them. It took the local predators association to totally resolve the problems. Now I have an electric fence to give them plenty of space and supervised free ranging.

I'm pretty sure it's her, and I think she only eats her own eggs. We have a small flock (only 4 other full-grown hens) that free range, so it's pretty easy to keep track of who's where, especially when you're a stay-at-home Mom. Unfortunatly, she's just been slated for the freezer--I think she was eating my broody hen's eggs right before they were about to hatch! My buff orpington stopped leying her eggs after just starting. She started on July 1st and took July 2nd off and on the 3rd there was an egg. Now nothing. What am I doing wrong? I have three girls ranging from 8 months old to now 1 year old. They free range all over. I watch them all day and nothing. I feed them ley mesh and scraps from the garden when I have them. My buff is big and she is the one not leying eggs any more. My rhode island is 8 months this july and is red in the woddles and the comb and big but nothing out of her. I am at a loss. This is getting really tiredsome cleaning and feeding them but nothing out of them at all.

The summer (high 90's to 105) heat has got my hens not laying at all. It's frustrating, I have 7 and at least 5 should be laying but I haven't gotten an egg in several days.

oh well it has to be the heat. My BO that's in my avatar stopped and now since the extreme heat has stopped about 110 here lol. now its about 85 to 90 she is leying again and is leying two days in a row and taking one day off. Oh ya. I almost have enough eggs to make a cake lol

I have a 7 month old hen. She laid everyday for about 4-5 weeks. I added a pullet about 3 weeks ago. She continued to lay after I introduced the pullet. She hasn't laid for the last 4 days. I locked her in her coop with access to her run. Still no eggs. Anyone have any ideas?

Time for lock down again.  They are hiding eggs to hatch.  Also make sure your protien is higher than 16% for free ranging.  I feed 20% and free range.  The ranging will cut feed protien down some and 16% goes down to 12 to 14% and is not enough to lay on.  Up that protien lock them up for a week and you should be good to go.
how can you pump up the protein?

I just wanted to see if anyone has a answer for this...My hens were laying 34 eggs a day..Then the next day I only got 24. Then the third day it went down to 12 and stayed that way for a couple of days then dropped to nine for a couple of days and then finally got down to three a day..It has been that way for two weeks now..I cant figure out what is wrong...Nutristion is good...same as it was when they were laying 34. Not stressed, no predators...we have checked and watched, They are not laying out side of the nest.
We have done everything we know and cant seem to find the problem...If anyone knows anything please help.

Thanks Sunshine
