I lost two of my sweet hens last night/early this AM. Left their bodies mostly…I will assume raccoon or owl maybe. I’m just devastated and my other three hens are traumatized I think. Just looking For the other two. How long should I wait to get more or should I avoid all together. I’m thinking it may help the hens left to cope but also may make it worse. I have had the for 5 years ans never any problems.

Sorry about your losses. How did a predator get into your coop? That will narrow it down. Adding new hens will stress them out right now. Plus you need to separate the new hens for like a month to make sure they're healthy.

My DH and a friend built me two coops that are open on one side. A GHO owl got into the coop and killed some birds, the survivors were bloody and freaked out. I moved them to a different coop and pen and after a few days they calmed down. I fixed the problem. I did catch the owl and contacted a wildlife rescue who came and got it.
