My Hens Won't Let Him Mate?

he's 2 years old, older than his new hens, who are only just over a year.

Then I guess the hens behavior might just continue like this every time they see him mate. A hen seeing a rooster mate takes it that the rooster is showing his dominance. This will not prevent your rooster from mating your hens though.
