My horse is turning 30! PARTY TIME (pics)

My beautiful AQHA mare "Josie" will be 30 on April 9th. We are having a big celebration for her this Saturday. I am just so excited! She looks so good for her age, and we have a long history together (20 years). We used to trail ride every day, go on weekend camp-outs, night rides, beach rides, swimming, play days, and other fun stuff. She was known as the fastest horse on the 40-horse farm she came from. She's still very spunky.

Congrats to you and her! My Paso Fino mare turns 28 this weekend, 14 have been with me. She too still looks and acts very young, loves to hit the trails! Have a good time on sat.!

Yes, she is missing an eye. We looked for it but never found it. LOL

She never missed it. It happened in 2001 and you can't tell by riding her. She still trail rides, jumps and does barrels.

I know of a number of horses that have lost an eye for one reason or another and they seem to accomodate it very well.

My sister had a senior horse. - She was there in the born when it was born and got to help clean the newborn off. She basically owned the foal at birth and named her Shadow. Then sis had financial difficulties and had to sell her when she was 5 years old. The new owner had a riding stables and used Shadow as lead horse, raced her locally, and basically loved her to death and swore that she would never sell - she had alot of offers. Then they lost their property due to economic troubles and she had to sell Shadow. My sis bought her back and never sold her again. I think the horse lived to 33 or 34 years old.
