my hubby dog did it again :(

If you have a fenced yard, and the coop isnt within the confines of that fence, how is the dog getting OUT of the fenced yard? Or is the entire size of your property fenced and they coop is within the same fencing as the dog? If that's the case, you may want to consider tying the dog to the porch when he has to go out, get him a 25 or 50 ft lead and hook 1 end to the porch and the other end to the dog and let him go do his thing. If you cant see any holes in the run, how is the chicken getting out? I'm completely confused by this scenerio. The dog is crate trained to stop him from messing in the house, and yet he still messes in the house? Just a tip from training dogs under the advice of a professional dog trainer, if you are trying to house break a dog, the dog should be within the confines of the crate or literally tied to you at all times until he/she is completely housebroken. If YOU are outside with him, then he can be unleashed from you as he will not be inside the house to relieve himself. You may also need to train the dog to stay clear of the chicken pen, does he listen to you when you call him? You need a distractor to use in order to train him. Take treats out have him on a leash and train him to not even care about that chicken pen. Every time he ignores the chickens you give him a treat. Start at a distance where he can see and hear them, but not too close. Once you get him good at ignoring from that distance move closer. It will take time and patience but if you want the dog and the chickens to co-exsist you MUST MUST MUST train him to not bother them. On another note, you need to train the dog anyways. No one wants to encounter a dog who has no manners.

I have a Jack Russel mix who I trained to leave the chickens alone. He wanders around with them now. We recently got him a friend, a young retriever mix, and he won't let the puppy near the chickens.
