Hello,
We have had backyard chickens for years. We didn't want day old chicks, so it seemed like a good idea to get some 6wk olds from the local feedstore. You know... well fed/immunizations/accustomed to humans/breed known. My husband from overseas thought the local poultry auction was a better idea. Due to COVID, he went alone. Pictured is what he came home with 3 weeks ago. I would guess them to be 12 wks old. No one peeps anymore. They were in the same cage and he allegedly was shown their mother, who was also on the auction block caged with baby chicks. My husband says she was beautiful and yellow like one of the 'pullets' he bought. They are flighty and want to sleep in a tree at night. He loves them.

So here are the Usual Suspects.
Q#1: ARE they pullets?
Q#2: Any ideas on breed? One of the brown ones has grey legs... so most likely an Easter Egger.

Thanks for the speedy replies. BTW is 'game cross' another name for 'Mexican fighting' (the colloquial name I know)? Relieved they are all girls. They sure like to play-spar. The light one is butter yellow and a stunner. He named her 'Princess'.
