Here are my 3 little ones that came with my bantams today. They are so adorable, and I've never seen a Magpie before! I got a crested Magpie, crested Khaki Campbell, and crested F&W Indian Runner, bringing my duck count to 12. [IMG] I'm in love with them.

I was worried about the Magpie a t first because she was verrry wobbly, would stumble and fall over onto her back and roll around unable to get up. She also slept half the day, but now she is up and eating/drinking. Still a bit wobbly, but not like she was previously. I wonder if she got too cold, the P.O. was fairly chilly.

The Magpie is named Lily, the Campbell is Hyacinth, and the Runner is called Jasmine. All but 4 of my ducks now have flower names. [IMG]

They are super cute! Does anyone know the use of the crest? Is there a reason for it? Like, survival or what not?

    Cute!

I ordered some ducks from Ideal too. I didn't specifically ask for crested ducks. When I got them none had crests but within a week 3 started growing them.

I doubt there is a use for a crest. It's just extra poofy feathers humans took a liking to.

I've seen mention in more than one place that the crested gene can be a fatal gene much like the rumpless gene in chickens.
