INCUBATE/BROOD/GROW OUT QUAIL
Incubation
1. Collect eggs and store inside in the cooler with ice pack
a. Replace small ice pack once per day
b. Turn eggs 2 to 3 times a day while storing
2. Put in incubator on Tuesday 10/29/19 and set the temperature to 99.9 degrees
a. Place egg's narrow tip down in incubator
b. Monitor that it’s between 98.5-100.0 degrees (best 99.5)
c. Add a teaspoon of water if the humidity gets too low: 45% first 15 days, increase to 65% for last 3 days
3. Stop egg turner and change humidity to 65% on day 14 (Tuesday 11/12/19)
4. Chicks hatch day 19 (Sunday 11/17/19); 70% hatch rate
Brooding
1. Place chicks in prepared brooder once hatched
a. Put double paper towels (or wood shavings) in the brooder box
b. Put marbles in the warm water (so chicks can’t drown or get too cold)
c. Pour feed on the ground of brooder box
d. Put heat lamp 5 inches away from top of box
2. Put brooder in a safe place without wind
3. Clean brooder every 3 days
4. Leave in the incubator until fluffy
