i have different sets of eggs in the same incubator and they are due to hatch the 22nd(friday), 23rd(saturday),24 sunday, 26 (tuesday) and the 28th (thursday) so some of them arent even on lockdown and others are supposed to hatch tomorrrow. i know my incubator probably stinks because there are dead chicks in the eggs but i threw out all of the ones that looked infertile when i candled them on day 17. this is also my first hatch so i am really new to this. what shoud i do?

scan over all the eggs with your nose until you pinpoint the stinky one. get it/them out of there asap.. that "stink" can kill every egg you have in there..

In the future I'd avoid a staggered hatch.. I've never really heard of anyone having good results with them unless they have seperate bators set up as hatchers. The problem is just as you said: Some aren't even in lockdown and some are set to hatch tomorrow.. These different stages require different humidity settings. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed

and about the humidity, im trying to keep it at about 70 (in the middle) and trying to get the best of both worlds, but im not sure how thats going to work out for me. and another question, i got 4 one day old ducks today; how long should i wait to mix them together, if at all

maybe it is not one of the eggs, then.. it might be from an egg that got broken? or some residue from an earlier egg? a piece of shell laying in the bator ? OR it might be mold...

staggard atches are ok if you time the lockdown just right and you have the humidity down pat so you can easily raise it and lower it when needed to..

what are you mixing your day old ducks with?

i want to mix my ducks with my hatching chicks after they are all dry. is that possible or will that be a problem? and there werent any broken ones but it just started stinking when the first ones went into lock down, but i do have a cloth covering the bottom of my incubator, but i change it daily. it has only been there since lockdown too, so maybe we are getting closer to figuring out the problem.?

and i have my eggs dated on both sides and i have them in separated areas which i separated with a thermometer, humidity tester thing, and a few water dishes, so i know for sure which ones are and arent on lockdown

I stagger hatches all the time. And I have 3 incubators (ones a cabinet bator) with staggered hatches in it right now. I also incubate ducks, chicks, geese, and guineas together. It can be done!

I agree that you probably have a bad egg and you need to find it.
