My injured chicken may be blind...

I had an injured Pullet who was separated from the flock and treated for a few weeks. I thought she was ready to go back and I put her in the coop. The following morning I found her on her back with a bloody comb and swollen face & eyes. I removed her once again. Her eyes had closed from the swelling and one eye was a bit weepy. I think the other hens did this to her... they possibly may have pecked her eyes out. I'm not sure if I should give her a few days or if I should take a warm, moist cloth and see if her eyes are still there. It does not look like they are empty cavities and there was a bit of fluid and blood which I blotted before they sealed shut. Is there anything safe I can treat her eyes with?
Please advise...

Thanks.

Get some boric acid powder from the drug store and prepare it according to the directions on the container. When it is cool, wash the eye area with the boric acid solution and a soft cloth.

Give her a few days to let the swelling go down. Her eyes will probably be ok. The boric acid is safe for the eyes and will act as an antiseptic.

Chickens can be mean suckers, can't they?

Thanks sooooo much for your quick response! Yea... it's amazing how awful they can be to each other.

I will respond again with her progress.

Sincerely,
Veronica
