(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I was raised on a small rural farm where we had a small flock of Rhode Island Reds. Now, many many years later, I feel like a newbie all over again. My spouse and I just bought seven beautiful Black Australorp pullets. We are excited about this breed and looking forward to learning what we can.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Seven.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Black Australorp pullets

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Everytime I researched online (using Google), the results all seemed to stem from this website. After looking about, I thought that I should register to join this community.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Canning food, being outdoors, baking, crafting, going on hikes with my 2 dogs, and teaching classes on how to live chemically free and educate on essential oils.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share
I have 2 dogs, both chihuahuas that are older and very well mannered. My spouse is the type who builds with his hands. We love where we live, and are blessed that we are able to farm and raise animals while providing them with a safe, natural and as stress free as we can life.

G'Day from down under cweek :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out and good as husbandry refreshers.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out :p

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
