Hi there!
I'm Mythical and I am getting some chicks soon and I thought this site would be helpful.
I live in a pretty cold place, it gets below zero sometimes. Obviously i'll need to keep them
inside when their little, but what breed of chicken is the hardiest? I want a chicken big
enough that cats won't mess with it, but they'll stay warm in the winter as well. I was
thinking about Australorps, is that a good choice?
Lets talk chickens,
Mythical

Edit: I looked up mypetchicken.com, and came up with a few other breeds I want your opinons on:
What i'm looking for in a chicken(the breed doesn't have to fit all of this, any of the things with stars
next to them are optional:
-Friendly-
-Big-
*lay big eggs*
-lay frequently-
-Able to live in cold weather-
A list of breeds that I am interested in (please comment!):
Australorps
Wyandottes (gold laced)
Plymouth rocks

Hi Mystical

from S. Florida. They say that the Wyandottes are a very cold hardy breed. I have 2 of them, and they are real sweet birds too.
Good luck, be prepared to get addicted!!

from Indiana. I have Wyandottes, Australorps, and BR's among others but my very favorite is the Plymouth Rock for friendliness and personality plus!
