(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I am still in the planning/researching stages.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

0, hoping for 3 (we are in city limits)

(3) What breeds do you have?

Interested in Orpingtons so far

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

online/google/searches

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I sew and sew alot, quilt too, love to cook!

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Wife of a Retired soldier, mother of 4 (aged 7-19), we have a 1 cat (super small dwarf) & 2 miniature long hair dachshunds, currently awaiting for a job to call me back (lots of applications in).
We just relocated for the last time and are making our house a home. I just found out that we can have up to 3 chickens (no roosters), I am so excited so I'm reading reading and reading some more. Hoping that this time next year I'll have some pullets running around. We are working on new fencing so I'm hoping to use the old wooden fence to construct a coop and the old chain link for the start of the run.

Glad I found this site, excited to learn, see all the pictures and meet new people.

Welcome to BYC!

You will love the Orpingtons. They are so docile, friendly, affectionate, great layers and very hardy over all. My girls follow me around like drooling puppies looking for goodies or a soft lap to sit on. I can't sit anywhere outside without a chicken begging to sit on my lap!

Definitely do some reading in our learning center for lots of great tips and hints on raising your new brood. Welcome to our flock!

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

I'm excited! Now to get the ball rolling on all the steps......
