You have enough room for 3 birds in your run. If you double the size, you'd have enough room for 4 birds in your setup due to the coop limitations. The main coop is 4'9"×3'6"×24" high. I made a run area outside of it that is 6'×6'×3'. I have Wire across the top of 1/2 the run & a cloth over the other 1/2. The coop is fully enclosed with chicken wire and has a hinged door w/latch. I put the nesting boxes (attached outside) the coop for more space inside. I will try to add 2 photos.
I know he was riding them a lot. I just wonder if it is better to keep him outside of where the hens are, to keep him from doing damage to the chicks when they get here? I will be feeding them starter crumbleYou have enough room for 3 birds in your run. If you double the size, you'd have enough room for 4 birds in your setup due to the coop limitations.
The chicken wire is inadequate protection from predators. Pretty any self respecting predator can tear through chicken wire. You should secure at least the coop in 1/2" hardware cloth.
You REALLY should rehome the rooster. I've never seen such bad mating damage to the backs of hens before.
Thank you. I know my setup is not great, but I can only try to improve it as I go along!![]()
