My sons showed their birds at the fair last week and won 3 first place, one second place and reserve grand champion of breeding poultry. This was their first attempt and we were clueless so it was very exciting for them when they won! My older son showed his turkeys and tried to converse with the other exhibitors but they snubbed him. He won first place with his tom and with his hen and his hen also won grand reserve champion over all of the breeding poultry. He couldn't believe it.

I love the fact that your one son's turkeys won first places and he was snubbed by the other, more experienced entrants! That ought to teach those snobs a thing or two!! Just cuz they're kids, doesn't mean they can't raise a champion bird!! Good on ya Kids!!! Job well done!!

Tell me, did they snub your son before or after he won first place for his tom and hen? If they snubbed him before, then they’re just being a***s. If they did it after, they’re still a***s and poor sports to boot! Shame on them!! Ever notice how some adults really need to grow up? I’m so glad your son had the chance to put them all back in their places and bring them down a peg or ten!

*wanders off still giggling about young boys beating out experienced exhibitors!*

!!! that is great!!!! yes some 4-h kids can be so mean and snobbs!!, my daughter was going to drop 4-h all together after fair season but i guess that fact that she is going to state fair this year for the first time changed her mind,

when your son'd showed, what kind of test and Id rules did they have?

My son tried to talk to the other kids while they were waiting to be judged and that was when they gave him the cold shoulder. He wasn't too upset by it. He is very outgoing and will talk to anyone. Afterward he thought it was funny and said it was "karma" that he won and the kids who snubbed him didn't. His advisor said that maybe they knew that his birds were better. As for id of birds, we had to bring them to the fairgrounds and have them tagged in early May to show that we had them.
