in my freez-a-bator the humidity runs in the middle 50s to lower 60s as you can see on my web page on this site. I have 6 (1/2) inch holes in the bottom part of my door, 2 40 watt lights in the bottom and my water for humidity in the top, I would say an area about the size of a 7x9 baking pan.. I have 3 racks which hold 60 eggs each, and I use a pole attached to the racks and run out of the top to turn everything..
I like the size of your window some day when the bator is empty..(like thats going to happen) I may enlarge it..
anyway you have a great design...and no matter what anyone says you didn't spend to much..

I am working on a freez-a- hatcher right now

Good Luck

That's a great looking frig-a-bator. I wish I had room for something like that. Anyway hope you can work a large container up there for the humidity.

A swamp cooler float valve (home depot, lowes has them) will work with the bucket or hard wired to your water system. Drill right size hole in a pan at the level you want the water. Put the float in, hose or copper tube to bucket/water. If you run it from the top of the bucket you'll have to start a vacuum by sucking on the hose or submerge the hose to get all the air out and hold your thumb over the hole, then put the hose on the float inlet, or you could get the right size rubber gasket for the hose or thread/tap the bucket and use the ferrules sytem or silicon the hose to a hole in the side at the bottom (secure the hose with ties or weight so it doesn't pull out of the bucket). When water goes down float drops downenough and opens the valve. Like a toilet that leaks out a faulty flapper and refills from time to time.

Put a fan blowing over the water will raise it some. Don't know just how much.
I have one similar and is about 45% and I got it to 55% I added 3 small fans blowing direct over the water.
