My wife and I have 6 laying hens, and recently got four more that are six weeks old. They were finishing up their chick starter (which came with them), when the six hens decided to help them out.

Anyway, we're wondering if the eggs from the six laying hens are still safe to consume. It was a pretty small amount of medicated feed they ate. Or should we take the tainted eggs to work and give them to people we don't like?

Coccsidiostats in that small a dose in the system shouldn't affect the eggs enough to cause problems.

However, just to be safe, it might be worth experimenting on those co-workers.

You will be just fine! i've had my girls eaten the fallen medicated feeds from the caged chicks and have not suffered any ill effects including my mother who is allergic to anything biotics and cillins.

I think they'll be fine, also. But we're putting them in a separate container, you know, just in case someone at work is a jerk.
