My leghorns are laying in the nesting box then getting out and laying egg on the ground. Any ideals.

I have a chicken tractor and one of my leghorn hens goes out in the fence area and lays her eggs right out in the open, I thought they liked it dark.

Make sure they feel safe in the nesting box. Make sure like a dog or cat isn't startling them in that location. Try putting golf balls where you want them to lay to trick them into laying there. They think it is an egg so they will begin to lay there. Hope this helps.
