My leukemia's back.

My question too!! We just recycle it to the next year. Um, I don't many Trick-or-Treaters anymore. Hmmmmmmm
I got none this year and I was handing out big Hersey bars and dollar bills..... No one came. I ate the candy bars.....

Lobster is on sale this week. So, I've ordered a single lobster. Will have it pre-cooked and bring it home to eat tonight. A plate of lobster, drizzled with lemon, and a huge serving of chick pea/soy bean/quinoa salad. Hubby is not fond of lobster, so he's gonna watch me enjoy mine!
Save me a place at the table......:D

You do realize that his cutting and then cutting his burger again is really a self serving/self perservation tactic, don't you? Any food item, when cut in half has a reverse synergistic property. Where by the sum of the parts is less than the whole. The energy expended in cutting a food item in half results in calories leaking out through the cut. (that's why food smells so good. It's cause all those calories are floating around in the air.)

For instance, a home made chocolate chip cookie has 110 calories. Of course, this is a dubious statement. Cause we all know that a large amount of the dough gets consumed before the cookies even make it into the oven. But, let's just assume that the person making the cookies actually follows the directions, and spoons wimpy sized portions into the pan, instead of making monstrous gigantic cookies.

So... 110 calories per cookie. You then cut that cookie in half. Each half cookie now has 50 calories. If you then cut one of those halves again, you now have 1/2 cookie which equals 50 calories, and 2 quarter cookies, each one equal to 20 calories. Note, that when the soft cookie is cut, the edges of the cut get compressed. This is where a lot of those calories go. They are compressed calories, there fore not worth as much as a fluffy calorie. So... if you cut the remaining 1/2 into 1/4's, you have decreased your gross calories to a net of 80 calories. If each of those 4 pieces are consumed slowly, with tiny bites, even more energy is expended and more calories leak out into the surrounding environment.

So, when Ken cuts his burger in half, then cuts one half into quarters, he is really changing that fat laden burger into a diet food. It's a wonder the poor man is not reduced to skin and bones from all of his sacrificial loving!

You never need to worry about me, Phil. I don't have TIME to get sick! :lau
I know right....... But honestly that means you have purpose and a reason to get outta bed in the morning.
Recently I was bummed out. I used to love art and was good at it...... My daughter bought me a bunch of art supplies for my birthday. I was bummed because I couldn't find time to draw..... That's when I realized.... Art is fine but I did art before I learned how to fix things.... Now fixing things is what I do.
It's kinda my "Art" now.
I just kind of evolved from pencil and paper to wrench and screw driver.....

Sorry Phil. You're a bit late. The lobster is gone, and the dishes are even washed up. However, you catch the salmon, and I'll be happy to cook it up for us, and I'll even make the salad AND wash the dishes.
I just smoked a nice Coho Salmon on Christmas day.... My wife made Salmon cheese ball with it....... Great on crackers.

thanks for asking

and eh......

how to sum up.... remember they couldn't sedate him last Saturday. .actually. .was that 2 weeks back, not 1???

Whatever.... maybe I should do a full recap.. see if my mental time line straightens out. :old

So, 12 hour surgery on the Thursday after Saint Herman's feast day. He woke up that Friday pretty well, by afternoon he was out of ICU...by 1 am he went back in.

They couldn't give him enough pain medication since his heart rate was too erratic as well as much too low.

That first Saturday he was developing postoperative pneumonia and having trouble breathing so they intubated him. They wanted to put him out for 2 days but ended up not doing so because his heart rate was too low.

Then Sunday he went into Septic Shock, but Monday the fever went down. His kidneys were looking bad Monday, but through the week they very very slowly started improving.

But, he was still in a great deal of pain, still not many pain drugs because his heart rate is so low... and he was still intubated as well as on a ventilator. So.. he would freak out on occasion and try to pull out his jillion tubes... so they put restraints on him. -sigh-

Then last Saturday when my sis and mom were there he freaked out badly enough that they gave him a dose of Haldol, first time. By that point, having been intubated for a week, his mouth was all raw and bloody and gross.

Christmas, Monday, he kept slowly improving with his kidney function.

Tuesday things looked a bit eh.... Wednesday they discovered that he was bleeding internally somewhere in his chest cavity. They went ahead and switched the intubation tube out for a tracheostomy. He needed 2 units of blood Wednesday.

Yesterday, Thursday, they did a 2 hour exploratory laproscopic surgery to find the bleeding source. Doctor decided it was just generalized seeping, and reduced (or was it discontinued? ?) his heparin. While on there for 2 hours they removed a bunch of blood clots. He got 2 more units of blood Thursday.

Doctor says it looks good, and we should start seeing a gradual improvement.

Exhausting just going through it long distance. ... I have gained 5 pounds! :he
So sorry, AK... I'llbe praying. :hugs
