Friday, wound clinic?
Yup, I’ve been packing an open wound where they cut the knot out of me in March. The wound care nurse is great and sneaks me stuff my insurance won’t cover. Just got a piece of crazy expensive stuff donated by the rep of the company. Hopefully this will push my body to finally fill in the rest of the hole.

:fl

I hope it works!

Did they get ALL of the uck out?

And sheesh... I am worried to ask.... but with a big open wound  how is your pain level?

I've heard of having to dry, or wet pack open wounds before. My best friend's husband is an amputee, and they had to pack him that way, when they took off part of his foot (diabetes). In the beginning they also used a suction machine on it, to remove the drainage. I hope the expensive stuff works out for you. It takes quite awhile to heal like that.

I have a son with spina bifida, so I've seen open wounds left open to heal from inside to up and closed. He had a pretty big one left open on his abdomen years ago after surgery. Just a tiny little hole left where stitches were, would keep it from healing right so they tried that. 5 onches deep, and 5 onches wide! That was not a fun one to work with. GAC, I was told to take some meds for anxiety, not for water. Cardio dr. told me I didn't have fluid on my lungs. That was one of the many things the ER dr. got wrong. I have an appt. to see a MS specialist next month. One thing folks can have with MS is weakened muscles around the walls of the lungs, and in the abdomen area..causes shortness of breath, as I'm still experiencing, especially when I end over. Crazy stuff.
