My leukemia's back.

Have a sister like this. Now, we have no idea where she is. I used to go by her place once in a great while. I knew she would be happy to see me for one reason. I gave her money. Yes I did. 😕. I felt like I was making sure she was still with us I guess. Went to visit again, the building she had been living in, was gone! Not surprised. It should have been torn down a long time before. But now...where did she go? We can't find her. Hoping they know who to get hold of us if she were to pass. 🙁
That is sad! There is no Guarantee that you would know if something happens.

The car! It's fine. They had called and said that this is what these new cars do..that they drove another with the same engine and it drove the same as mine. Well, I asked if I could drive another like mine to see. They said yes. I didn't end up driving another car. This guy took me to a dealer, not the shop guys, to get a car for me to drive. We explained why. He was interested. I said, you can drive mine and see. I knew he had been driving around in other cars! He jumped right up...says I would love to drive your car and see what it's doing. This man..was so helpful. He also said, yes, these engines do this. If you are only driving around town , no highway or freeway..you will notice it more just driving around town. Now let me show you an option since you drive city. I have an option in my car. 🤷 I can put it into manual. Yep. This way the car isn't trying to figure out which gear I want to be in... driving in the mid to high 20's. No clutch for me to work, move it over to manual, bump it with my thumb to move it up to the next gears. Don't feel my car trying to shift because I'm shifting. Wala .I don't mind driving it in third along the back streets. I started asking more about what this and that does in my car. He asks..where did you buy this car? I tell him. He asks, well ..did they tell you that your steering wheel goes up and down?...lol..this is while he's moving it up and down up and down with a look of unbelief on his face. I laughed..said no, but I knew that one. He went through and explained the many things this car does. I had only driven it around 5 times so far. The kid that sold it to us was young. My kids bought their Tuscon at this dealership..that I was at now.. They said the guy went through everything and then they signed a paper saying they had been shown everything. Wow. Glad I got Gabe the dealer to help me out that day. The shop guys didn't explain why my car was doing what it was doing like Gabe did. Glad I asked to drive a car. 👍.
There still might be a software updated to fix the low speed shifting glitch.

It is nice that you found someone to help!

Glad you ended up with someone to explain everything to you Cynthia!

Glad you have answers about your car and you have a work-around. These new cars are so hard to figure out sometimes.
My truck has the Manual shift feature also, but I never use it. With the 8 speed transmission, I bet if I did more driving in town at low speeds, I would have a similar issue as you did. Thanks on explaining the work-around and passing on the information.

Some manufactures seem to have trouble with the setting.

I suspect that you could get around the issue by setting to sport for town if the vehicle has settings like that.

If they let that out as a "Working As Designed" transmission it is pure BS poor design. It shouldn't "hunt" and apparently "that dog doesn't hunt" IMO.

I'm very glad the guy showed you a way around it. If he hadn't or it wasn't an acceptable thing for you I'd have taken it back to the dealer, turned it in as a lemon and bought a different vehicle, definitely a different brand.

I think Ron has something, keep checking to see if there are any software upgrades for the transmission, I can't believe everyone who has this problem will take it sitting down (so to speak) and the company will HAVE to fix it eventually.

Quite happy with our cars that can't have that problem, no stepped gears.

A couple of years ago I noticed that my 2 year old truck was not breaking right. When I stepped on the brakes at lower speeds, it would start breaking, then suddenly break less and I would have to press harder on the brake pedal. I took it to the dealer for them to check it out and the guy listened to me politely, but I could tell he thought I was just being overly picky about how the truck was handling. I insisted that he take it for a test drive and check it out for himself. He had a changed attitude when he got back and they fixed it under warranty (for free). About 6 months later, I get a recall notice for my truck. For a faulty brake pump - and the description of the problem was almost verbatim what I told that service guy, lol.

In 2001, I was going through a divorce, had 3 young daughters, and a very unreliable clunker. My parents came down, and took me to get a vehicle. I ended up with a 2000 Ford Expedition, that had just been traded in. The previous owner bought a new vehicle yearly, and took really good care of their vehicles. It had the Eddie Bauer package, and every other upgraded package available. It was, without a doubt, the nicest, most luxurious vehicle I had ever owned. It was perfect for me, and the 3 girls. A lot of Expedition owners told me I'd regret my choice, because they'd had problems with theirs.

That 20 year old Expedition is still the vehicle I own, and drive today. All the froo froo seemed like a bit of overkill at first, but we soon got used to it. Our first trip from FL to KY, and none of the froo froo was overkill. It has always been like driving a cloud, and riding on one. It's very responsive, turns on a dime, the lumbar support works like it should, the overstuffed leather seats have not broken down, so they offer good support without being stiff. It will easily pull a loaded trailer, and the self leveling airbag suspension, is amazing for that. Up until a couple years ago, most of the parts on it, were the original ones that came with it. I've had very few mechanical issues. Yes, I've kept up with all the routine maintenance throughout the years. A couple years ago, is the first I began having a few issues with it. Hey, after 18 years of hard use, some parts just wear out.

We've talked about getting me another vehicle. You would think that I'd be overjoyed at the idea, but I'm not. I'm not finding the newer SUV's, or Pick ups, to be a suitable replacement.
