My leukemia's back.

Debby, Ashley is actually my great-niece. She is my sister Linda's granddaughter. One week from today I'll be able to see her and give her and her sister Addy the puzzles I picked up for them. Those two girls will spend hours doing jigsaw puzzles so when I find really cool ones I pick them up and put them aside. We're going back to Sioux Falls for Thanksgiving and the puzzles will be going back with us - along with 6 live chickens but that's another story. <Sigh>

Rachel, I know the news wasn't exactly what you wanted to hear, but it's always easier to fight a real enemy than a phantom one. I like your new doctor! We need pictures of the new do!

Bunny, all those ponies needed were fake unicorn horns!

Snow we got yesterday has melted but it looks like winter temps are here to stay for a while. Sure glad we got the run covered for the chickens. Now we're just praying that the roads are good for this trip back.....700 miles on bad roads with live chickens in the back of the van could be a tad stressful. But at least if we get stranded somewhere we've got meat and eggs to sustain us!

Sorry for the mix up on kids Blooie...heck, I have a hard time keeping track of my own small family. So what kind of chickens are you bringing back?

Debby, if that little mixup is the worst thing that ever happens in my life I've got it made!!

We're taking back 2 Buff Brahmas, 2 Light Brahmas and 2 Easter Eggers. My youngest sister Bev has owned her little farm for almost 20 years, and after he recovered from a serious illness my brother moved out there with her. It's a win/win situation. She's not alone out there any more and he's doing very well with the activity and the fresh lifestyle. They got their first chicks this spring, and we all tease him and call him "Chicken Ron" now. He dotes on those chickens! So when we knew we'd have to downsize for the winter, I was joking with him about hauling my excess out to him. Didn't expect him to jump on it like a little kid being offered a popsicle! He's got a huge coop he made in a big barn out there, and he's made a run that my girls would kill for, although they spend much of the day free ranging. He's already put a divider in there so the new girls and his can get acquainted slowly, and he's so excited. Well, if I can travel 700 miles with a dead guy in a cardboard box in the back end of the van, I can handle a few chickens!

Rachel, don't be surprised, if under your Pulm. doc's care you do have better lung function. I have common every day reactive air way disease, and was sick much of every winter. Finally went to a Pulmonologist, and he put me on Singulair, and Pulmicort, and I've been doing very well for the most part since then. When I get sick, I start the inhaled steroid, and that keeps me out of the bronchitis woods. So, your doc, will give you the best possible advantage! Your lungs will get a chance to heal. Not saying that you'll get back to 100%, but miracles do happen!

Blooie, thanks for the update on Ash.

LG...Never downplay the seriousness of R.A.D. I'm on five different meds in the winter to control it. I call it asthma but same difference. The thick mucus drives me up a wall. Wakes me up keeps me up. Blooie a salute to your niece for her bravery and good attitude sick kids really tear me up.
I'm having a little motivation inspiration problem today. So someone say something motivating or inspiring.
(Honestly I think it's just the crappy weather)

I love puzzles, too - it used to drive my husband crazy when we did one together. He'd be staring at the pieces, trying to find the one that goes right there, and I'd put a few pieces in and then casually place the one he'd been looking for . . . .

Great to hear that, with all the distractions of the internet, some kids still love those things.

Blondie and Syd were dressed up as "My Little Pony" characters; they just weren't wearing their costume yet. Blondie was "Fluttershy," which is a pegasus, so she had wings, and Syd was "Princess Twilight Sparkle," an alicorn, so she had wings, a unicorn horn, and a tiara. It was funny how many people (and not just kids!) recognized them! Betsy was Spike, Twilight's dragon assistant . . . . I think she's forgiven me for that.

Phil, I do hope I didn't cause offense. What I should have said, was that my issue with this is nothing, compared to the issues others have with RAD and other pulmonary diseases. Yes, I have thick ropey mucus (sorry folks if TMI) also, but find that it helps A LOT if I drink lots of water in the evening. I can commiserate with you about lacking motivation and inspiration. I was in a funk for the last 2 days, issues with teen ager in the house. I'm sure some of you can empathize with me on that! I finally applied my boot to the seat of my pants yesterday, and went out and got on the working end of a pick axe. Felt much better to be engaged in constructive destruction. Didn't solve my problems, but helped put them in perspective.
