Sour, hope you and the Princess enjoy your trip and family. Wave to everyone as you drive by!

My little bantam Cochin cockerel died

. At this point, I'm thinking to just sell off my adults and the babies are all going to die anyway, so I'll be able to start fresh in our new place, whenever that happens.

But then I got three eggs today

Sorry about your cockerel, Rachel; I lost my last Bantam Cochin roo, too. At one point, I was almost knee-deep in the puffy little things, and I do like them, but now I get to decide - do I like them enough to replace them, and if so, with what?

I am sorry about the dead cockerel!

My Philosophy is that chickens just die--Sometimes you know why and sometimes you do not. I have sent them in to UCD for Necropsy but I often do not.

I had an older hen die several months ago and another one is looking off but is hanging in there.

I did hatch 33 fertile store chicks out of 4 dozen eggs I bought so some of my older hens need to go! I have a pressure canner now too.
