My leukemia's back.

Agree the pics of gravy do not look at all appealing

Yesterday was a little rough. Let's just say Immodium is my friend, and sips of Sprite with saltines were my main sustenance.

Today is better, though. Cereal for breakfast, walking the halls, on byc. Life is good! I do have a sore spot starting in my throat, though, and one in my mouth. The nurses say with an unrelated transplant, it's not IF you get sores in the mouth/gi tract, but a matter of how extensive they are. Joy. At least they've got that great numbing mouthwash if I need it, just not sure how to get it that far down my throat without gagging on it.....more joy.

I'll be in the hospital about 3 weeks after transplant, so 2 1/2 more weeks, depending on how my counts and graft vs host disease go. After that, I'm out of the hospital, but have to be within 30 minutes of the hospital for 100 days total, again depending on how things go. So, Mom and I will be staying at a motel close to the hospital. Right after discharge, my days apparently will consist of going to the clinic early in the morning, getting Magnesium/fluids/blood/platelets/whatever else they can pump into me, being there 3-8 hours, then back to the motel for the afternoon and evening. Rinse and repeat, gradually lessening the days in the clinic as I improve. So, not in the hospital for 100 days, but I can't go home for 100 days cause we're too far away. Also, it's very common to have a complication and need to be re hospitalized. Apparently you can tank very fast post-transplant, thus the being so close.

Thanks Enola...so that is not the reason why my dogs are comatose...hey...! I wonder if i can buy you some garlic chocolate here in Europe..fancy some ????
OK for all of you "doubting" there is such a combination of garlic and chocolate...check out this website..

www.blackgarlicna.com/desserts

And it is a North American recipe...

I personally would not consider eating such a combination...I would however like to try "biscuits and gravy" bon appetite...!

Rachel...sorry if I made you feel sick with my talk...! Praying for you and your beloved family...great that you spent such a wonderful time with your honey!

I never doubted for a moment that someone has mixed garlic & chocolate. But. I am with you, no mixing of them for me!

Rachel, who better could you ask for than your mother to be by your side? Maybe on a slow day you two could play cards and eat chocolate!

Glad to hear that today is better than yesterday - yesterday sounds like a day that one would prefer to forget, though even remembering it is better than living it . . . . yeah, Bunny's brains have gone walkabout again.

If there can be a positive side to mouth sores, I guess they are an indication that the new cells are settling in, right? Praying that they don't get really nasty, and heal up soon.

I've heard that in China, there was a tradition that babies weren't even named until they were 100 days old. They were kept at home, and not considered a part of the community until their naming day (interestingly, the human infant's immune system really kicks it up a notch at about that age; infections that could be scary in a younger infant cease to be such a worry). In a way, you are being reborn, and we are all waiting with you for the day that you can become a part of the community again!

Thank goodness that the Princess did not know about the 100 day immune thing with infants. She worried over our kids enough without that knowledge. I had to throw away Dr Spock's book on raising infants. Does that still exist? So it's like having a baby Rachel on our hands? Hmm, does that mean she has to listen to us adults? Fat chance -
