My leukemia's back.

Thanks you all..

I did say at the University Hospital that I would be happy to have my feet amputated at the ankles...I was looked upon in horror!

These Professors and Surgeons have no concept whatsoever of the excruciating pain I am going through....which is why I insisted on going to see the original Surgeon in Vichy...he examined my feet and said that surgery would be the only solution to help me...in his opinion the surgery was essential as soon as possible...

My critics should now be silenced...my spirit is restored....!

You all here give me strength....it overrides the adversity I face from people who have maybe never understood what pains we can suffer ...mostly in silence;

I do try to be positive at all times...sometimes I fall down and need some help....

When I need help....I know you all all here for me and that is so very precious....THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

3 Good Eggs

Tramadol that I take for pain relief are opioids...300mg a day...they give no relief for pain to me...just make my days a little hazy at times...

I have had morphine which has been given to me in such large doses that I have been told that it would be impossible for me to leave Hospital and I have walked out of Hospital after, albeit a little unsteadily....

My pain threshold level ( I am told ) is very high...subsequently I tend to need a huge amount of pain relief when I am in great pain...enough I am told to put a horse to sleep....charming explanation!

My weight has dropped to 99 lb and this is likely due to the stress that I have been going through... I am hoping that I will now put on some weight as my fight is over with those that do not have my best interests at heart....

I am back on track and my only concern now is for the wellbeing of my animals in my absense from home...

Gotta write instructions for Philip....that will take some time!

Hoping your new medical team finds a good solution to your pain and that you heal quickly.

A good friend of ours has MS, and also had extremely deformed and painful feet because of it. His son, 17 years old now, has the same issues. Dave tried for 3 years to find a doctor who would amputate them. Same as you, Suzie - extremely large, bone on bone, and he was always in so much pain that sometimes it hurt me just to see him trying to get from the chair to the table. Walked on his heels, couldn't walk on the sides any more because he had broken them down. He finally found a surgeon in September and first had the left done, then the right after his prostheic on the first foot was working well for him. He's smiling. And for the first time in the 15+ years I've known him he doesn't have those pain lines between his eyebrows. His son also wanted to get the same thing done. But the doctors told him to wait and watch how his dad did, and then if he still wanted to do it, they consented. His will be done at the Shriner's Hospital in Salt Lake City the end of this month.

Did Dave have an easy time of it following the surgery? No, he didn't. But as he said, he had one thing after that he didn't have before, and that was hope. I don't know what the exact issue is with your feet, and goodness knows I'm no doctor. But it seems to me that hope beats pain any day!

I'm sure praying for you, Suzie!

It's so weird how pain meds work for different folks.

My Big Boy had a displaced wrist fracture. They were going to reset it in the ER. Gave him a good dose of morphine. I was turning down the lights, thinking he was going to be out for a while. Didn't seem to even phase him. I forget how much they tried giving him, not only did it not make him the least bit drowsy but he had zero pain relief. Finally they changed to dilaudid and he got good pain relief, but not sleepy. They then had to give him a lot more propofol than the'd thought they'd need to sedate him to reset the wrist.

Right after my transplant, they had me on a Duragesic PCA. I maxed that baby out and was incredibly stoned, but had minimal actual pain relief. They changed me to dilaudid and I still had a lot of sedation, but got some pain relief. Just as a side note, it's been funny for me to go back and read some of the things I posted then and when I was having the bladder issues--I was so stoned during the first, and then sleep deprived during the second, days were lost. I have zero memory of some of the things I posted.....but you all were still amazing!

Suzie, I hope you get some relief. One way or another, life's got to be worth living.

So glad to hear the GREAT news Rachel:D! :weee

I'm going to complain about my life this morning.....I appologize in advance.....if anyone has words of wisdom on what I can do, they are much welcomed.

I am having blood pressure issues. I've actually had issues for about 4 years. Doctor suggested I lose weight, or go on meds. I lost weight-about 20 lbs. but I've put it back on. I'm 45yrs old and At 5'6", 190lbs, I am not the ideal stick figure.......:/. I've been waking up (sometimes in the middle of the night) with massive pounding headaches. I've also been dealing with chest pains periodically. When I check my blood pressure, it's consitantly high. Top numbers 135-180, bottom number 90-99. Probably should see a dr, but haven't seen one in over 2 years. Hubby gets 1st priority on Drs. His visits and meds are costly. Our deductible is $2,500 per person, so until an extra 2k falls into the budget, I've just got to keep paying for insurance I'll probably never use. Besides, I really have had no time to see a dr. Most mornings I am up 2 hours earlier than the family, so it gives me time to get ready for work--and do a bit of housework, laundry, dishes, figure out what's for dinner, etc.--somewhat stress free. I used to do Zumba twice a week, but they cut out that program. Working six days a week, and having a family & animals, I have very little spare time.

As far as eating goes, I cook 90% of the meals we eat. I haven't salted anything since DH had heart surgery 11 years ago. We eat salads, veggies, fruits everyday. The only caffeine I drink is 2cups of coffee in the morning. And I MIGHT drink one alcoholic beverage a week.

I am not a couch potato, I am on the go all except maybe one hour a day aside from sleeping time. At my work, I don't have a desk job. I am a bank teller and I stand all day for 8-9 hours a day. My job and life are both stress filled and that is part of the problem, but that's life. I can't quit either of them:D. Thanks for listening to my problems. You all have a good day. Today is my only day off, so I've got coop work and rabbit cages to clean. Time at the coop is relaxing:D

A couple of things come to mind based on some research--you can do your own research--

Because salt accounts for 48% on average of iodine intake, you may likely be deficient in iodine. A great way to get it is kelp, either drops or powder in pills.

one drop gives you the daily requirement of iodine and the bottle, with hundreds of drops was less than $10.00. It might have been 5. Iodine deficiency has a lot of your symptoms and causes thyroid hormone issues.

The second one that most of us are deficient in is magnesium. A good magnesium, calcium, D and beta hcl from Amazon is not too expensive.

And then...It is all too common for the caregiver to not take care of themselves. Question? Who will take care of DH if you kick it form a heart attack?

Take care of yourself! At least try what I posted--It will not cost much and you should notice big differences in about three weeks.

JWB - in agreement with Ron but would add go to the doctor and have a complete blood work profile. See if you can define a problem. You are important - take care of yourself FIRST, and then you can care for others.
