Morning 41 here this morning looks like our extended summer weather is over. One of my ducklings has developed " angel wing " now I have to figure out how to correct it.

I seen a forum about this where you wrap the duck with bandage material for seven to ten days and cut the protein in its diet. I worry if this is practical as this bunch I got right now are way messier than the last. And its getting colder outside and I worry that the bandage would affect its ability to stay warm. Funny how its just the one duckling. but its also the one that's growing way faster than the others. I then wonder if I switched over from starter to grower too soon. Or if I shouldn't give so many treats. giving treats is a big highlight of my day. Or maybe this one duck is just a fast grower and there wasn't anything I could have done anyway. I guess I will just deal with it the duck wont never fly anyway so worst case she will be easy to identify. But for now I will back off the protein as much as I can......okay I'm done rambling....from the north.......Phil

before I say what I'm about to say, I want to tell you that I do not partake any drugs, legal or illegal, and also, I had a very mild form of cancer in 2003. But, have you considered medicinal cannabis oil? Also, the Gerson therapy has cured people in situations where no survival seemed possible. There is also a lady called Angel, she was given 3 months to live, years ago, and she recovered completely and has been cancer-free, without radiation or chemo. Phil, you've almost got me talked into getting ducks next spring. Honey loves them and we got a batch of Rouens years ago. Now we're down to one elderly drake. A friend has a pair of the tiny call ducks and I was thinking they may be the way to go, as they'll basically be pets. But then I heard them described as "very vocal", and that's not so much to my liking! Not that they'd be right at the house or anything, but I don't like noisy animals (my roosters get a pass cause they make baby chicks).

I'm making The Locusts earn their feed today. We're finally going to tackle putting a new floor in the barn

. It has an elevated floor that was chipboard or something like that. Well, I put a foot through a spot years ago, and the floor just flat gave way under the wall that divides the two rooms. We've basically blocked it off and stored things on runners for years, not having the $ or feeling like we had the time to deal with it. Now is the time! I'll have the boys tote boxes out today, then Honey has 5 days off (mostly), so we'll be able to get a lot of work done. A few friends will be coming over to help, we've been doing a fair amount of bartering labor lately and it's wonderful to have the extra hands to help. I hate that I'm just not as capable as I used to be, so having able bodies sure come in handy.
