My cousin lives in Wauwatosa...Wisconsin...her and her Husband started up a foodbank some years ago...her Husband used to work for a bakery and knew of the huge waste...when he retired through ill health he approached the bakery in Milwaukee...they agreed to give him bread and cakes that were just past their sell by date...he purchased a van and distributed food to needy folks...the charitable act grew and it is now a huge voluntary organisation...non profit making and I am so very proud of them...
If anyone in that area wants further details to contribute to the cause...just pm me and I will pass on details...
If you think that is bad...you should have been me...
I am laughing so loud...my kitchen is an access route to the outside...that is the truth...culinary skills bypassed me en route...Suzie, thanks anyway. If we ever get to visit, we will take you out to eat.![]()

I cooked a supermarket bought pizza at home and did not like the taste of it...so I gave it to my dog..he ate some of it.it was only when I was clearing up what was left over that I discovered that there was a polystyrene base...I had cooked that along with the pizza in the oven...and ate some of the disgusting polystyrene...what concerned me most was how ill my dog would be after consuming such a revolting combination...! Anyone here want to visit and eat my cooking ? No...thought not!
The livestock tent at the fair always has it's share of "incidents," and this year was no exception. Due to concerns about E coli, we are required to keep the public several feet away from any goats and sheep, and to spray a germicidal spray in any public areas where a goat or sheep (or a wheelbarrow full of their waste bedding) may have been. So, we have a "barrier" of colorful plastic pennants that separates the public walkways from the goat pens - cheerful, decorative, and reasonably effective at keeping people where they belong. With the goats - not so much. Somehow, a couple of goats got out a few days ago (not during the time the fair was open, fortunately). They scampered merrily around the end of the tent, and one managed to grab (and eat!) one of the pennants before they were collared and put back in their pen. The livestock superintendent sighed and rolled her eyes when she was told about the goat snack . . . . "at least, it's my goat," was her only comment as she sent someone to respray the area. (No sign that the goat is any the worse for it as of this morning).
I know that feeling..why do they put giblets in a chicken? Puzzles me no end....I can relate!
The first turkey I baked came out looking good. Upon carving I discovered a roasted bag with giblets inside...who knew they put those parts in there?
I had two goats here..they were the ultimate nightmare....they could open any door..eat from feed bins and escape whenever they wanted to...ate trees, a wooden bench, attacked my dogs and in the end I resigned myself to sell them ( females ) they are happy in their new environment..both are mothers and their milk is used to produce cheese...Goats are crazy like that!
