So the dryer guy said the dryer looked fine, but it wasn't getting 220 juice to warm it up. The wiring is funky in the garage, the whole place actually. So, Honey and I were out there again tonight. For some reason we keep tripping breakers, not sure why. We had two "mystery wires" that we couldn't figure out what they ran. Even checked the well pump, everything in the garage was working except the breaker tripping. So we bypassed those wires and everything was working. Well, I went out to feed the horses and check on the chicks in the brooder outside---guess where those mystery wires went? Yep, the barn. Great. So we moved the brooder into the garage (thankfully we cleaned out the garage recently, otherwise it never would have fit) and left the barn unwired. But for some reason, the breaker has tripped again. I'm not too worried about the chicks, they're a few weeks old and they have a silkie in there with them who will play momma from time to time. But all my freezers of pork, etc. I've go the doors duct taped shut to remind us not to open them right now. I'll probably be up all night checking to see if the power is still on.....grrr.

That's tough. Hope you get it figured out soon. Pain to have to babysit the electricity! But, at least you're not working away from home every day!

The breaker for the garage has totally flipped at the main box. It won't stay on even long enough for me to walk from the box to the house.

the chicks did fine last night, momma stepped up and brooded them. yippee!

I bought some bags of ice and put them in the freezers and re-taped them shut. Everything was still very solid, even in the freezer on the second refrigerator. They're all pretty packed, I had to wedge the ice into them a bit, so I think they'll be okay until Honey can work on the wiring tomorrow. I'm not going to fuss to him at all, but I can fuss to my team here....I'm not going to be able to go to the livestock auction tomorrow

. I know it's a small thing, not like I was going to buy anything anyway, but it's something I look forward to and enjoy. But, having electricity definitely takes priority! Plus, I'm anticipating spending some time with Honey. He's been working 10+ hours a day learning his new job, and I miss him.

I'd bought a turkey breast yesterday with the thought of breaking out the little smoker we were given. It's thawed, so I'll need to cook it somehow, but I'm not sure if I can plug the smoker in anywhere! I'll look around, maybe I'll wind up oven roasting it.

Are you sure it's wiring issue and not something that's plugged in. Sorry wish I could be more help...is you dryer still on blink is it plugged in?

I'll ask Ken when he gets home if he has any suggestions, too. He's off, ironically enough, putting in a new service for someone who has had problems with constantly blowing circuits and no power to the horse barn. He's gonna ask a couple of questions I think. Like, was this happening before? Have you added a new appliance, especially one that produces heat, lately? Leaking in any of the outbuildings that could be getting a connection wet? What size wire is carrying the load - 10/2, 12/2, etc.? Those are a few I can think of.

We unwired everything but the washer and dryer and the dryer worked just fine, heated up well.

Nothing had changed as far as what we have plugged in. Washer, dryer, two freezers and a refrigerator. We have a, I think it's called a trickle charger? for our garbage truck that's always plugged in. And for the last month or so Honey's been plugging his diesel truck in at night cause he's been having issues with starting.

The main box goes to a smaller box in the garage. Myself, I think something's wrong with this box. There are two breakers in it, and each only get good power to one side. The other sides have barely enough power to move the needle on the whatchamacallit that tells you how much juice you have. So he wired everything to the "good" sides of the breakers. He replaced at least one of the breakers, maybe both I can't remember.

Honey's thought is it's the wire that goes to the barn causing the issues. We've had our first good rain and he thinks something may have gotten wet. That's what we'll be investigating first tomorrow.

I just don't understand why the main breaker outside is tripping off, not the smaller breakers in the garage. Even when we only have one breaker inside running, it still trips the outside breaker. Not sure if that makes sense?

I have no idea what size wire, sorry. My main job is to hold the flashlight

and make a big fuss over him when he finally gets it fixed. Those things I can do!

Oh, I know all about flashlight holding...even that I manage to mess up - "No, here...shine it right on this wire...not that one, the other one." I'll have Ken read your post when he gets home.
