We unwired everything but the washer and dryer and the dryer worked just fine, heated up well.
Nothing had changed as far as what we have plugged in. Washer, dryer, two freezers and a refrigerator. We have a, I think it's called a trickle charger? for our garbage truck that's always plugged in. And for the last month or so Honey's been plugging his diesel truck in at night cause he's been having issues with starting.
The main box goes to a smaller box in the garage. Myself, I think something's wrong with this box. There are two breakers in it, and each only get good power to one side. The other sides have barely enough power to move the needle on the whatchamacallit that tells you how much juice you have. So he wired everything to the "good" sides of the breakers. He replaced at least one of the breakers, maybe both I can't remember.
Honey's thought is it's the wire that goes to the barn causing the issues. We've had our first good rain and he thinks something may have gotten wet. That's what we'll be investigating first tomorrow.
I just don't understand why the main breaker outside is tripping off, not the smaller breakers in the garage. Even when we only have one breaker inside running, it still trips the outside breaker. Not sure if that makes sense?
I have no idea what size wire, sorry. My main job is to hold the flashlightand make a big fuss over him when he finally gets it fixed. Those things I can do!
Did you say that there were mice and rats at your place? Guess what they like to chew on....Yep, wires! We unwired everything but the washer and dryer and the dryer worked just fine, heated up well.

You need to get your honey a head lamp for Christmas. Perhaps you can make him a nice hat to wear with it.I think there may be rats, but they're in the coop/hay barn, really not close to the garage or main barn. I have multiple cats who hang out in/around the garage and barn, so I hope there's no rats there. There's also no food in those places for them. The hay barn and coop are another story, there's feed there and only one cat lives out there. But I'll keep that in mind.
And what's with little critters and wire, anyway? They're like chickens and Styrofoam. I just don't get it.
My right arm was sore and achy today, took me a while to realize it was from holding the flashlight up at the right angle...."you can't shine it through my glasses".....Well, Honey, I'm shorter than you! My options for angle are kind of limited if I have to stand behind you.....projects like these can test a marriage for sure. it's a good thing we just really like each other.
Hopefully we get a break from the rain tomorrow, it will make this go much smoother. If we don't get things fixed I'm going to have to look into storing our freezer goods somewhere, and go to the Laundromat---not my favorite place![]()
wish I could help...if I was there I could but I'm not....I am pretty sure though it's not a coincidence that it's raining and the breaker is tripping. I'm a problem solver I just wish I could be there too see how it all works...good luck let me know....thanks...PhilI think there may be rats, but they're in the coop/hay barn, really not close to the garage or main barn.
